Distorted Christianity

There have been a few stories that went public, where Christian business owners refused service to a particular individual. These stories included customers who were turned away because of their color, denomination, looks or because they were a same sex couple. This is an issue I would like to tackle. First, I would like to acknowledge God’s word for a moment specifically on homosexuality. I believe God’s word trumps any opinion of mine, so I like to start there.

Is Organic Better?

The term organic, is a trendy word and organic food sort of started out as a trend too. Organic farming however, has proven that it is more than a trend, it is a different way of doings things, the all-natural way,  using our own natural resources. Many changes have been seen throughout the organic farming movement. Many of these changes can be seen in our own environment currently.

Agriculture in the End Times

Agriculture has been around since God created the earth. God called us to be caretakers of the earth and every living creature in it. God did not place man in the garden to just watch over it, rather for the purpose to tend and care for it. Every single plant, herb, crop and creature was designed by God, for our benefit. So why does it seem like the very thing God placed for our benefit is becoming scarce and threatened. Agriculture has advanced tremendously since biblical days. Other changes have occurred too along with the advancements. Soil, air quality, farming methods, weed control methods, increase in crop and livestock disease and increase in population.

Overcoming Rejection

Rejection is a painful experience, that many of us unfortunately, have experienced at one time or another. Rejection usually comes in the form of cutting someone out of your life either briefly or permanently. Silence speaks, and it is louder than words. It sends a message that, “you are not worth my time”, “you are not worth my energy”, “you are not worth responding too”, “you are not worthy of acknowledgment”, “you are nothing”. Lets be honest. Sometimes we can act and behave less than desirable or  it  very well may have nothing to do with you.  Regardless, tossing someone away like they are no more significant than a piece of garbage is definitely not an acceptable solution.

An Extra Ordinary Day

We have all experienced suffering of some level in our lives. We are human, we all have to deal with the ups and downs. Some of us may have more ups while some may have more downs, but we all experience the storms of life. It took me a long time to really begin to see that God was always in my trials, I just hadn’t noticed it.  God wants us to completely trust him during the storms in life, even when it hurts and seems hopeless. God is in control at all times, even though he may not have caused the problem, he is there to pull you through it.

Staying Consistent

Matthew 7:24: “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” We are each building a life. The proper foundation for a life is Jesus’ words—not just the hearing of them, but the doing of them, too (see James 1:22).

Turning Off The Ignition

Sometimes it seems like we are speeding through life. Time just fly’s by and before you know it the day is coming to an end. You are emotionally and mentally exhausted, only to go to bed, wake up and do it all over again. God never meant for us to be so busy and consumed that we have no time for anything else in our lives.

God’s Relationship With Animals

“But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” Job 12:7-10 (NIV)

If there is one thing I have learned over the years regarding animals, it is that there are no “bad” animals.  There are bad owners, bad handlers, bad environments and natural instincts; but bad animals are not born that way. I have also noticed that animals love to play, they seem to be so simple and content with life.  Animals experience joy just as we do.

Devotional: The Condition of The Heart

Matthew 13:3-9
And he told them many things in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil, but when the sun rose they were scorched. And since they had no root, they withered away. Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them”
